“Man of Steel” might not be the worst summer blockbuster I’ve ever seen.
But I’m pretty certain it’s the worst “Superman” show I’ve ever seen.
Watch Man of Steel on-line Worse than the pathetic “Superman Returns,” stellar Brandon Routh, the Saint George Lazenby of Supermans. And worse than the pretentious “Superman IV: the hunt for Peace,” St. Christopher Reeve’s rather unhappy (albeit well-intentioned) arrange to bankroll his superhero celebrity into a plea for the eco-future of the world.
I will provides it this, though: “Man of Steel’s” last 3 minutes square measure among the most effective I’ve seen in many show, summer blockbuster or not.
But Lord, what you've got to travel through before that witching conclusion.
Directed by Zak Snyder, a form of archangel Bay wannabee, and supported an idea partially unreal up by St. Christopher Nolan, (who brought attendant back from the dead), “Man of Steel” isn’t keep regarding borrowing some picture show images: Mr. If-You-Build-It-They-Will-Come, Kevin Costner, stands before of a field of dreams…I mean, corn. A ominous squad of “Apocalypse Now” helicopters hovers before of associate degree angry Sol Rojo. There’s even a sinking bus from “The Sweet Hereafter.”
What I liked best regarding “Man of Steel” is that the approach it hints at a sweet hereafter. Or a brand new starting, as “Stars Wars” puts it.
But that solely happens at the same terribly, very, very end.
